Is this going to be the mantra of Tiger Woods? I was so excited to see him coming back to the PGA Tour, but he was out too soon. He truly came in on Day One of the WGC Accenture Match Play like a Tiger, but the next day he went out like a lamb. Maybe he got a little ahead of himself and started feeling (and maybe playing) a little too cocky.
The first day back he played with caution. Not swinging too hard and trying to feel out the reconstructed knee . . . and it worked! Started the round with a birdie, then eagle and consistent play throughout the whole round. Result - winner, winner, chicken dinner!
The second day, he started trying to swing harder. Result - a few wild swings, out of bounds, a few bogies, missed putts and out of the tournament.
Hopefully, he will analyze his play during his respite and come back and play smarter the next time. Maybe he needs to remember what all us amateurs try to do . . . Keep it in play!
